I was fortunate enough to have moved to Winnipeg in 1978 with my family and got to experience the total eclipse of 1979. Kids at school had to stay indoors watching a TV covering the event, but your parents could give permission to stay home so my dad did.
The sky was perfectly clear. It was amazing.
