In the summer of 1984 my wife and two little kids took the train Vancouver---> Calgary for her family reunion.
Uncle: "We used to take that train down to Vancouver in the winter for school; took 24 hours. How long does it take now?"
Me: "25 hours".
But I lied: returning to Vancouver there was "an issue" and it was closer to 30. Oh, and on the way the air con shut down in Lytton; the hotest spot in Canada that day. Butter on the dining room tables melted.
