Morning, all,
Anyone still awaiting $000s in a windfall check from Don Trumpeone’s White House, paid for by Donald Jesus Trump’s #LiberationDay Tariffs?
If so, I’ve a P. T. Barnum ‘This Way To The Egress’ Sign I’ll happily sell you.
Tantrump’s regime has been required by court order to repay sums garnered by Tariffs the executive had no constitutional right to impose, and so far $81 Billion has been repaid.
The catch? Higher prices for imported goods will generally have been passed on by the tariff-paying importer to the retail customer; are those importers required to pass on the refunds they’re receiving to those consumers? Do they even have the data to achieve that?
One suspects the beneficiaries will not be American consumers but those who own the import firms. Once again, the Capitalist Mantra applies:
“Privatise Profits; Socialise Losses!”
