Familiarity. Most of the users are not tech savvy, I want to keep it as simple and similar as possible. I would be astonished if more that one or two of the potential users knew what a public key is.
And, tbh, I found Nostr very hard to find like-minded people on. It’s too diffuse, here you can find an instance and know roughly what the people on it will be like.
