Ethics question: What do you do when you are getting crowdfund/mutual aid requests in your replies?
Im not talking about finding such posts in my timeline, or seeing such things boosted from someone I follow in my timeline. Im talking about getting a mention from an acct you have no mutuals or previous interaction with.
Some of these posts I have received in my mention *are* related to the crisis happening in Gaza right now. So, Im a bit nervous about taking any negative action to the account.
For example, here is a current one I received:

For the most part, I have just ignored these posts. Sometimes they get taken down within an hour or two and that kind of tells me that maybe they were fraudulent? And yes, many of them usually come from mastodon.social which is open registration.
Additionally, I know there is some sort of controversy regarding things like Gaza Verified (npub1d6t…vdlg) ... I dont wish to add to that. (Like, I have seen people do things that end up causing more problem for the people in Gaza who are genuinely asking for help...all because many of us are suspicious of all the crap going on in the world)
