When I informed some Korean girls (in their twenties) that Hello Kitty is NOT a cat, but rather a British girl who dresses in a cat costume, they were traumatized.
It was as though I told a kid that Santa doesn't really exist.
But it's true. I was simply startled for a few seconds when I first learned the reality of Hello Kitty. Then I belched, and it was okay.
