📋ISW (10/20) — Senior Kremlin officials reaffirmed Russian support for Iran and explicitly defined the United States as Russia’s long-term adversary, despite the recent unilateral US concession to Moscow – offering Russia a diesel export waiver.
📌Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on October 19 during a press conference with Iranian Foreign Affairs Minister Abbas Araghchi that Russia and Iran share “similar or closely aligned” positions on most regional and international issues.
📌Lavrov also condemned US “illegal aggressive actions” and “unprovoked aggression” against Iran and emphasized that Russia “does not intend to abandon” its economic and investment agreements with Iran.
