In the early 1980s, pirated software in Italy was so widespread that many had barely any idea they were buying pirated games. Even if someone wanted to purchase original games, they were often very hard to find and most shops would still try to sell the "cheaper" version anyway.
Despite Armati's attempts to go legit (later), their pirate streak would never subside and would even lead to legal issues with other companies such as Leader.
