I am shaking with rage.

Tina Peters showed absolutely no remorse or contrition for her anti-democratic actions. She is a deluded thief and liar, who abused her position under color of authority, and absolutely deserved to have the book thrown at her. She steadfastly maintains that she did no wrong. She also, reportedly, has been in trouble four times for behavioral issues in the year she has been in prison.

The governor's actions, taken two days after the legislature concluded its session, seems timed to avoid any legislative action or statements in opposition to the governor's commutation.

There are still bills sitting on the governor's desk, waiting to be signed. It really feels like this was intentional, because what legislator is going to condemn the governor publicly while he can still veto their bills as payback?

If I was a legislator, even if he did sign my bill, I would be mortified to attend the signing ceremony.

This is deeply troubling behavior from any governor, let alone a democratic governor from a state that roundly rejects fascism and authoritarian bullying.

I thought I could rely on Jared Polis to do the right thing, but I was wrong. He is a coward and a pushover. I'm ashamed that he lives in Boulder. He did not represent his constituents with this craven act.
