I can't imagine why anyone would ask the question "Did AI select the target?"
The U.S. military bombed the school and killed the children. It doesn't matter what their motives were, or how they selected the target. It doesn't matter whether they did it dutifully or gleefully. It doesn't matter how they became the kind of person who murders children.
They did it.
