People keep asking me how long it takes to make the things I make, and I usually have no idea. I create string and baskets as a fidget activity, usually while travelling or doing something else.

Anyway, I actually timed and measured a piece of string last night. This was green, unprocessed New Zealand flax, done entirely by feel in the dark. Eight cubits in two hours, or about two metres per hour.
