Another thing I recommend specifically for this character.
Take screenshots of what your working and see it in grayscale or turn off all color on the skin material.
That way you can see her "ethnic tweaks" better.
When you play with the dark/light of her skin and if she could pass as an African and East Asian on each respected shade, then you're moving in the right direction for Alyx.
Admittedly, just barely passible for each one, LOL, but getting mixed characters could be tricky.
