M'benga's gentleness, his love for his daughter, and his willingness to get his hands dirty and go Beast Mode when necessary are all serious virtues in my book. For Phlox, it was his different way of looking at the world, and how he navigated living with an (almost) entirely human crew with such aplomb, as well as his general positive outlook and good cheer.
