I believe their arguments lean more towards zero-trust and they are not comfortable with ad blockers having almost full access to browser sessions.

And even if I were to just play along with my black thinking hat on - open sourced projects aren't known to be reliable, especially when there is a prime case of ghostery. So track record means a lot less when compared with organisational scaled ones with a reputation to upkeep.
