Fellas: it’s over. I wanted to check out a couple French books, so I went over to my library’s stacks and the reorganisation project has hit the French section. Just absolutely eviscerated. Checking the online catalogue, ten of our eleven volumes of Maistre’s work have been moved to remote storage, and from what I can see, most every other author got similar treatment. Looking around, I see at least the Russians and Chinese have also been gutted recently. American literature was razed a while ago. The English, Spanish, and Italians are intact but their days are numbered.

One perk of working at an academic library was being able to browse the shelves and find all kinds of neat, obscure books. Looks like those days are about over.
