I have protective feelings toward the film La La Land. I get why people feel entitled to dump on it, but I flinch at every negative word I've heard over the last decade.
I'm not here to sell anyone on it. but since I was grieving two big losses at the time -- my musical-loving mom, who died, and my partner of 11 years, who left me -- it was custom-built for me to relate to it.
perhaps the most mainstream thing I've ever felt alone in liking.
