When I say people are ready for one, what I mean is people are fed up with what's happening right now and ready to take action. Most people aren't in unions. Most people probably aren't even sure what a General Strike is. But if there are enough calls for one, especially by mainstream figures who they've heard of, I think there's a good chance they'd participate. Consider the occupation of the Wisconsin State House in 2011. It was supported by a pretty wide and mainstream subset of the population. Of course, the mainstream unions made everyone quit and go home, too, way prematurely, without having won very much. And that is probably what the mainstream libs, like Johnson, would try to do with a General Strike.
