because (at least Gajim) has fundamental issues I've been told would be a lot of work to rework, I also really don't enjoy writing python.

At this point it would probably be less work for me to write my own instead of trying to fix what is already there and that's why we started.

I'm honestly a bit confused at the xmpp community's aversion to people at least attempting to create an alternative.
