Given this I think my aversion to writing in books and quality notebooks comes from some kind of sense that I'd defile this "holy" object by doing so. Since I also at this point never before had finished a notebook I'd think that I would not give the book the proper "respect" by not finishing it. Sounds quite ridiculous now writing it out.

Maybe it's something similar with some people and fountain pens?
