⚡️🦶🇨🇳 HISTORY - For 1,000 YEARS in China, little girls’ toes were broken to keep their feet TINY, all in the name of BEAUTY!
Starting at age 5 or 6, their toes were broken and folded under the foot, tightly bound with silk strips.
The ideal foot measures about 7.5 cm; it’s called the “golden lotus.” The last factory making shoes for these feet closed in 1999.
China banned this practice in 1912, but some families continued to practice it in secret. The last known case dates back to 1957.
