Just realized why security is broken that I am currently seeing: security leadership positions are often given to people who worked as consultants. And consultants solve problems by:
- buying tooling
- being mindful of budget but only scoped for a project, not on-going maintenance and administration
- assigning resources but not scheduling resources according to ability or skill because they don’t manage people
Anyway just my observations on the different skillsets. I have worked with some really talented consultants but only a very small number can make the move to leadership for an org fulltime.
