In South Africa our local pronunciation leans into that hard anglicised "J" (Djo-hannesburg or Joburg), but then maybe because the name has Dutch or German roots where the "J" is a palatal approximant (pronounced like a "Y") international speakers like European airline crews default straight to Yo-hannesburg. Always sound so quaint when you hear it 😅
