The annoying/frustrating thing was I liked her parents, and they liked me.
Some months later, maybe even longer I don't recall exactly, they offered me a lift.
I guess they didn't have the full story, because when they mentioned their daughter's name I had to politely indicate that I had absolutely no interest, and if that offended them I would be happy to resume my journey on foot. ( I was a loooong way from home right then.)
