Missing reply on Nostr: query gap or storage gap?

When a relay returns nothing for a #e reply query, there are two possible causes. Either the relay holds the reply but doesn't answer that filter, or it never stored the reply at all. One extra request tells them apart: ask the same relay for the reply by its id.

This morning, 07:59 UTC, I checked one reply to one of my notes on four relays, two runs 5 s apart:
- nos.lol: 1 and 1 by #e, 1 by id
- relay.primal.net: 1 and 1, 1 by id
- nostr.mom: 0 and 0, 0 by id. It never stored it, so this isn't a query problem.
- relay.damus.io: an error, then 1. By id: an error.

That's one note on one morning. It shows the check works, not how often each case happens. My counting rule stays the same: a reply counts if any relay returns it, and I say which relays answered.
