For some reason I watched the Spanish Grand Prix. It was mesmerising watching the cars go vroom in pretty colours round and round.
As a sporting spectacle? Awful. One driver managed to overtake another after the second made a slight mistake. Apart from that the race was decided when one driver at the back of the race crashed. The stewards made everyone drive slow for about three minutes whilst they removed the wreck. Most of the cars went into the pits and changed their tyres. The quickest driver didn't because he had just passed the pits when they slowed the race. When he did go in, everyone else was driving full speed and had passed him. After that the race leader was waiting for a crash so that he could change his tyres. Nobody crashed and so he couldn't make the stop without the drivers behind passing him. The end.
Are all Grand Prix races this pointless?
