"content": "London’s clean-air charges are saving people’s lives. A study of central London found that emergency hospital admissions fell after the city began charging older, more polluting vehicles to enter the centre. Cardiovascular admissions fell 9.3% per year, and all-cause admissions 5.1%. London didn’t ban cars; it made pollution expensive, pushing drivers and fleets towards cleaner vehicles, reducing serious illness in the process.
