My original background when it comes to Linux is really UNIX. I was lucky enough to use SunOS at University and I loved it. In fact, when we started working on Opera in 1994, we did the initial work on Sun workstations. This means I feel at home with both a graphical UI and with the terminal.
Generally my thinking is that you should not have to use the terminal for basic operations and I think you should not need extensions for basic functionality.
Currently I am testing Zorin. I like the fact that clicking links in 3rd party apps, displays said links in the browser and activates it. IMHO not doing that is a bug.
I like that I can select different UI layouts.
I miss some settings that are there in Kubuntu.
So likely a mix of some of the best things from Kubuntu and Zorin would be optimal for what I have tested so far. Obviously with Vivaldi as the browser. :)
I will keep testing and thinking about how things can be improved.
