It might become much worse than under Bolsonaro. As far as I know, in Brazil a large part of the funding for science is state-based, not federal. For example, in São Paulo, a certain portion of tax revenue is guaranteed to go into research funding by the state constitution. No Bolsonaro can shut this down!
