Doesn’t it?!?
I don’t have many favourites in anything, because there’s too much to love in this world, but I do have two favourite English words - escapee and normality. No doubt I love them because of their… musicality! But each have been replaced by awful abominations, escaper and that horrendous “normalcy”. Both are simply errors which would once have been frowned upon, but are now in common usage. No doubt both original words will soon be referred to as archaic.
Looking for explanations…
