Maya Johnson, a US Army soldier deployed to Iraq in convoy security, was mocked as the "Church Girl" for praying before every mission-but she refused to stop.
Raised Pentecostal, Maya brought her faith into the war zone-praying out loud before every convoy, playing worship music, and standing firm even when teammates told her to "keep it to herself."
She didn't back down.
Through repeated missions in dangerous territory, her unit was never hit while she was with them.
