actally I never argued like that, for not to excuse Putins aggression. Selenski was elected in a democratical vote and so Ukrainians decided to go West. But Maidan was not a democratical movement, it was a putsch, pushed by Biden and Obama and they helped to install the first post Maidan government with fascist members. They forbid Russian language and there were persecutions of Russian ethnic Ukrainians, so they fled to Eastern Ukraine,Ukrainian ethnics fled.....
