I spent 15 years of my life with a GNU maintainer of multiple projects as a partner. I can accurately say that his devotion to the cause and according asinine behaviour was part of the downfall of our marriage. And I can say, as someone who is a decent and very experienced software engineer in her own right, that GNUbros jumping into conversations and adding the corrective equivalent of 'But it's GNU Linux' or 'you must mean the platform, not the kernel', or whatever, is one of the many reasons I don't contribute to GNU software, and have written off my prior (thankfully small) contributions.
You aren't converting anybody. You are being dicks.
Not all GNU fans and all, but seriously: NO ONE ASKED YOU.
All you do is hurt your cause. Tuck it back into your pants and move along - it's just not impressive.
