Personally, I believe in secularism. Religion should be banned from everyday life. People should be free to practice in their own time, out of schools, law, government, business, etc. We have to be realistic though. If the Head of State is the local 'rep' of Mr God for the UK, that's not happening anytime soon. This is why imo the discussion is relevant. Books and teachings have not changed dramatically. Humans interpreting them have. I think this is what Malik is trying to articulate.
