If you ask about any performance problem online, as in "Why is my disk/network/filesystem so slow?" In 9/10 posts, you'd be told that "You must enable/use Y for high performance." or "Your system is slow because your hardware really is that slow." Sometimes from veteran sysadmins. Often these answers are completely wrong. There's actually a hidden slow-path or config knob somewhere - but sometimes it needs 10 fresh OS reinstalls and a kernel profiler to find it, so most problems are never solved.
