A good example of the dynamic would be Carnivore Aurelius versus Chris Masterjohn. One is an actual scientist who tries to do real inquiry, but it's not sexy and he can't distill it to a simple message. So he ends up much less influential over time even though there would be much more value for most people in listening to him (albeit he is likely too intelligent for them as another problem).
