bandsintown is one hell of a piece of work.
The request that actually gets the info you want is https://rest.bandsintown.com/V3.1/artists/id_[whatever], but this will fail with an "unauthorised" error if you don't add ?app_id=js_[anything, or nothing].
Actually I managed to get a second error out of it by providing an app_id that doesn't start with js_.
