the fedi or social web?
imo we shouldn't be using social media and social networking interchangeably. the first is public and primarily about boosts. democratically managing attention. the latter is messaging and groups. private. the different goals require different moderation norms.
it's also not microblogging but a social news feed. short posts but also pics, articles, podcasts, videos, songs etc. anything should be able to go viral directly.
