Japan is threatening to pull its investments from U.S. companies due to Trump’s tariffs, which impose a hefty 24% rate on its export-dependent economy.

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba expressed to Trump that these new tariff policies are “extremely disappointing,” in a tense call, warning that they jeopardize Japanese investment in the United States.

Ishiba highlighted Japan’s position as the leading investor in the U.S. for five consecutive years and called for a reconsideration of the policy.
