I would put significant money on all of the following turning out to be true in a hypothetical future where we genuinely understand the brain:
* the actual prevalence of ADHD is more like 10%+
* all or almost all of the gender gap in ADHD diagnosis is downstream of societal and medical gender discrimination
* adult ADHD prevalence closely matches childhood
* what we call ADHD will turn out to be multiple things that are currently being conflated
