If you’ve been following me since we started DRC back in October 2021 you might recall that I had began an AR pistol build back then. Shortly afterward, Biden instituted his unconstitutional “pistol brace rule”, then I had a dying family member I was caring for, then I had series of truck repairs I had to make. So the AR pistol project kept getting put on the back burner.

Well, now the pistol brace rule has been explicitly and absolutely ended by the DOJ and even the ATF themselves, things have otherwise calmed down in my life, and of course there is the looming specter of massive Republican losses in the November midterms and the associated urgency of tending to any 2A-related loose ends before new restrictions rain down after next January.

So I’ve resumed the AR pistol project and today I got some parts back from a cerakote service. The AR rifle I built 10 years ago is all black, nothing really unusual. This time I wanted to do some different colors, mostly because I’ve never had anything cerakoted before and I wanted to see how turns out.

So here’s what I had done:

- The upper receiver is coated in ‘Forest Green’ (H-248)

- The lower receiver is coated in ‘Vortex Bronze’ (H-293)

- The rail is coated in ‘Cold War Grey’ (H-402)

- The buffer extension tube is coated in ‘Tiger Eye Brown’ (H-187)

- The LAW tactical folding stock adapter is coated in ‘Purple Plum’ (no code for that color. It is a proprietary 40/40/20 mixture of USMC Red, NRA Blue, and Graphite)

(Note: The colors are considerably darker in person. The camera phone picks up ambient light and the slickness of the cerakote adds to the reflected light)

So that’s the latest update. I’ll post updates as is comes together.
