after all the arguments that have invited themselves into my comments in this thread, I think my original statement about not trusting themselves is more accurate than I'd prefer.

I also think people, especially younger folks, don't realize that their push to have all their real life details online is absolutely something Facebook started, and it started as anti-trans rhetoric combined with a grab for data. It feels natural to them because they don't realize it's relatively new.
