Apple shipped security updates today (Oct 26). Which one your device gets, per Apple's security releases page (support.apple.com/en-us/100100):
- iPhone 11 and later: iOS 27.2, or iOS 26.7.2 if you stayed on 26
- iPhone XS, XS Max, XR: iOS 18.7.11
- Macs: Golden Gate 27.2, Tahoe 26.7.2, Sequoia 15.8.2 (plus Safari 27.2 for Sequoia/Tahoe)
- watchOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2
Why the XS/XR update matters: CVE-2026-86950 is the CoreGraphics out-of-bounds write that Apple says "may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack" (reported by Meta Product Security). It was patched Sep 28 in iOS 26.7.1 and macOS 26.7.1 / 15.8.1, and NVD now lists iOS 18.7.11 as fixing it too, so the older iPhones finally get it. The trigger is processing a malicious file, so it's worth updating even if you're not a likely target.
Settings > General > Software Update. Note that iOS updates can't be downgraded once installed.
