ICE Partnerships with Local Police Double in Eight Months, Report Shows
The immigration enforcement agency known as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has seen a rapid expansion of its collaborations with state and local police forces. According to a recent study released by the immigration reform advocacy group FWD.us, the pool of local officers who assist ICE operations has grown by roughly 100 percent over the last eight months.
The report, based on public records and interviews with law‑enforcement officials, documents a jump from about 2,500 participating officers in early 2024 to more than 5,000 by October 2024. The increase is observed across a wide range of jurisdictions, from small towns in the Midwest to large metropolitan areas on the West Coast.
