I suspect that on top of the general competency crisis that's affecting everything, there's not really anyone else left on the Democrat bench. Ever since Bill Clinton was in office, Democrat leadership has seemed more interesting in making sure no one challenged them within their own party than developing up and coming talent. You have these ancient ghouls clinging to power until they are vegetables that have to be wheeled into cast votes. The only up and comers are jokes like AOC; at best rabble rousers, but not anyone that's going to break through to the White House, certainly not truly legislatively significant.

In other words, Harris is the biggest name they have outside of maybe Newsom, and he's pretty much crapped the bed with the current firestorm. Who the fuck else are they going to run in '28? Butt-giggidy? That witch governor of Michigan? I can't think of anyone with name recognition and any charisma.
