And, most important of all, he doesn’t want to think about this anymore! He wants to go back to thinking about how his red line is going to make him a gazillion dollars and about how he’s going to position his red line advertisements on the X platform, and . . .
So to hell with the damned dots. Jimmy will let some programmer worry about that. He doesn’t want to think about that level of detail.
But we do! That’s our personality defect and our superpower. We love all those details. We revel in working out how to assemble a bunch of dots on the screen into a red line. We don’t so much care about the red line itself.
What we love is the challenge of assembling all those little teensy-weensy details into a red line.
So why are we needed? Because society needs people who love to worry about details. Those people (us) free society to think about other things, like the Ice Bucket Challenge or Angry Birds or playing solitaire while waiting in the dentist’s office.
So long as the vast majority of people run away from the details, they will need those of us who run toward them. That’s who we are. We are the detail managers for the whole world.
