I've never understood software "stability" in terms of just keeping things static and unchanging for the sake of it. Like, in a server environment, it makes sense to a degree. You'd want to be using something like Debian, which is "stable" and unchanging. But it also sort of puzzles me why, unless you're running something enterprise-grade, you also wouldn't want to accept a bit of downtime for bug fixes and such. Mostly referring to people running Debian on their own personal devices.

I bring this up because, on my own personal NAS, I can see that Synology hasn't updated their Tailscale package since version 1.58.2. We're now at version 1.104, with Synology's package having been released in March of 2024. I even get not wanting to install that if you don't have th time or desire. But for updates to not be offered at all for over two years? I dunno, it's just weird to me. I've manually updated my copy and it's been working just fine. Takes less than 5 seconds.

But I say this as a Fedora and GrapheneOS user, so I'm using to receiving a few updates every month on every device.
