TIL that NYC MTA employees don't chase people for fare evasion because it contributes to assault (and so, it's part of their union contract). So the NYPD in the subways get paid by the MTA instead of just cutting costs.
There's going to be the bootlicker/apologist who thinks it's good and that people should pay a fare. But if the funds used to pay the people more than doubly exceed the cost of free fares, you're ignoring logic for state violence aplologa. Which is what leads people to get harmed.
