My solution, which seems to work pretty consistently, is to batch edit the meta data for all the affected tracks and check (or uncheck) the “Album is part of a compilation …” checkbox. Then edit again to uncheck (or re-check) that box. For whatever reason, toggling that box back and forth seems to get everything grouped back together again.
