I wouldn't say entirely different. There's massive overlap between how a self-driving vehicle works and any other one occupant vehicle.

I think I failed to see the fundamental difference between the risks inherent to a self-driving vehicle pulling over on the side of the road and malfunctioning (and now bursting into flames and exploding? I'm not quite sure what your hypothesizing has happened to this vehicle now)... And a vehicle operated by any solo motorist. Like, if I'm driving a regular ass Honda Civic and smoke starts pouring out from under the engine and I have to pull over and run? I'm exactly as stranded right?
