I was born in the late 70's but knew of Lawrence Welk through his TV show because it was on whenever we visited one of my Polish aunts.

In my Norwegian class at UMN, we had listening exercise day and after one of them I told the professor that one of the actors sounded like Welk. I was waiting for his "anna one, anna two, ..." which got my Poland-born Norwegian professor to laugh.
